Terms of Service

VOLTA is a commerce platform that lets East African musicians, designers, photographers, and sports teams ("Artists") open storefronts and sell products directly to fans ("Buyers"). VOLTA is the marketplace operator, not the manufacturer or seller of any product listed — each Artist is responsible for the products they list.

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Artist accounts are reviewed before going live, and VOLTA may decline or remove an Artist account at its discretion, including for violating these terms.

When a Buyer pays for an order, funds are held by VOLTA until the order is marked delivered and confirmed (or a fixed confirmation window passes). Funds are then released to the Artist, minus VOLTA's commission. Cash-on-delivery orders are settled directly between the Buyer and the delivery rider and are not held in escrow.

VOLTA charges a commission per sale, which varies by the Artist's plan (Starter, Pro, or Featured) as shown on the Pricing page at the time of sale. Commission rates may change with notice to Artists.

Delivery is currently available within Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. Delivery timeframes shown at checkout are estimates, not guarantees.

Buyers may request a return within 7 days of delivery for eligible items, subject to the product's condition. Disputes between a Buyer and an Artist that cannot be resolved directly may be escalated to VOLTA for review; VOLTA's decision on fund release in a dispute is final.

Artists may not list counterfeit goods, items that infringe on third-party intellectual property, illegal items, or anything that violates applicable Tanzanian or East African law. VOLTA may remove any listing without notice.

VOLTA may suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms, engages in fraud, or creates risk for other users of the platform.

VOLTA is a platform, not a party to the underlying sale between Buyer and Artist. To the extent permitted by law, VOLTA's liability is limited to the commission earned on the transaction in question.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
